What's this Bienvenue Solidaire guide all about?

The Bienvenue Solidaire guide aims to provide guidance on entrepreneurship residence permits for non-EEA nationals looking to settle in France.

The guide was written by me, Alex, an American who runs a consulting company in Paris. I currently hold a freshly renewed Passeport Talent – Création d’Entreprise residence permit valid for four (more!) years, so I myself have personally done this very thing twice now, without a lawyer, with no issues.

Within the French context, I’ve long found the quality of info on these types of permits lacking, particularly since the entrepreneurship route to France is relatively new. I discovered there’s a real need for much better guidance on the topic, which is how Bienvenue Solidaire came to life.

Bienvenue Solidaire is more than just a guide; I’d like it to be more of a reflection of shared values. As I hope you’ll see in the guide itself, France is striving to make the welcome process more, well, welcoming, but there’s an important counter reflected here as well – an investment in the greater good.

What's inside the guide?

Part 1 is a primer on visas & residence permits, with a particular focus on what the French authorities are looking at when evaluating these applications. Part 2 breaks down the three main types of entrepreneurship residence permits that France offers, as well as a handy flowchart to help you determine the best one for you. Part 3 goes over the specific business-related documents you'll need to prepare with your application depending on the permit type you choose, while Part 4 provides a few extra details by type of permit.

How much does the Bienvenue Solidaire guide cost? How do I get access?

The Bienvenue Solidaire guide itself is completely free - this is not a commercial project for me, but rather a labor of love, which I wanted to make as accessible as possible.

However, in seeking to pay homage to the foundational French republican concept of solidarité, I have chosen to make this guide available only to those who support French charitable causes.

To get lifetime access to the guide, make a donation of €10 or more to any French charity of your choosing.

Once you're all set, forward a confirmation of your donation to bienvenuesolidaire@gmail.com. You'll receive an evergreen link to the guide, which will be updated as required.

Not sure which French charity to select? Feel free to pick one of my favorites, presented in no particular order:

Already living in France? I encourage you to give locally! Search for associations in your town or département to find the best local initiatives to support; you can also receive a tax credit for your donation.
